Though her husband has been dead for a decade, Mrs. Taggart (Bette Davis) uses her wedding anniversary as an occasion to torment her three adult sons. This year, Tom (Christian Roberts) must confess that he has impregnated his fiancée, Shirley (Elaine Taylor). Middle son Terry (Jack Hedley) must guiltily explain why he wants to escape with his wife and children to Canada.
