The Public Eye (1992) Joe Pesci
Tireless 1940s tabloid photographer Leon "The Great Bernzini" Bernstein (Joe Pesci) is always first to the scene of the crime, thanks to his uncanny journalistic instincts and the police scanner in his car. Known to his friends as "Bernzy," Leon is famous for capturing the gory aftermath of violent crimes that snuff the lives of New York City's famous. Bernzy gets a job offer from gorgeous nightclub owner Kay (Barbara Hershey), but finds he's way in over his head when the Mob gets involved.
Viewer Quote: "This is a wonderful piece of work. The visual look of the movie is simply fantastic. Hat's off to Joe Pesci as the little guy nobody likes in a big way. He is a sleazy guy who has few, if any, morals. ("Bernzy" was "paparazzi" before they invented the word!). Anyone who has ever admired the work of photographers or aspired to photography themselves must see this film. And the story is absolutely fantastic. I strongly recommend this lost gem."
