With every passing decade, new talent is being introduced to audiences via Hollywood. The new filmmakers are using the latest technology to add new features in their movies which garner increasing attention to the entertainment industry. Here is list of some of the top actors who are contributing to the ever enticing appeal of movies.
1) James Franco
James Edward Franco born on April 19, 1978 is one of the multi-talented names in the show business industry. He is an actor, writer, television producer, film producer, comedian, director and also a painter. James earned a bachelor's degree from University of California and masters degree from Columbia University. As his interest in acting grew, his parents refused to support him financially. To support himself, he worked nights at McDonalds for year to to earn a living.
His began his career in a television commercial for Pizza Hut. Later he appeared in many television shows as guest actor but got his first big break in the movie “Freaks and Geeks” (1999), it was discontinued after 18 episodes due to low viewership. Franco gained international attention in the superhero film “Spider Man” (2002) in which he played the role of Harry Osborn. He was also nominated for an Academy Awards for best actor in the movie “127 Hours” (2010).
Major hits of his career are “Spider-Man trilogy” (2002-2007), “This Is the End” (2013) and “The Disaster Artist” (2017) in which he won an award for best actor at the Golden Globe.
Franco has had numerous high profile relationships and there is an ongoing media debate regarding his sexuality.
Tiffany Sarac Haddish, is a comedian and actress born on December 3, 1979. Haddish's father was refuge who came from State of Eritrea, but Tiffancy was born and raised in California.
Haddish’s father died when Haddish was three years old. She faced many challenges along the way to developing career.
Haddish started her career on “Who's Got Jokes” (2005), in which she played a guest role. She worked long and hard in supporting guest roles before her career took off.
In 2017, Haddish received a role in the movie “Girls Trip” (2017). The movie received the almost impossible to get, 90% approval ratings from viewers on Rotten Tomatoes. The movie was her spring board to success and garnerd her lots of Hollywood attention and numerous awards, including the BET Award for best actress. Tiffany has continued to star in many hit movies and series that include “Night School” (2018), “Nobody's Fool” (2018), “Tuca & Bertie” (2019) and “Like a Boss” (2020).
Haddish married and divorced William Stewart, twice. She is currently single.
Dwayne Douglas Johnson also known as “The Rock” is an American actor, producer and a retired professional wrestler, who was born on May 2, 1972. Johnson is known worldwide because of his wrestling career from the platform of World Wrestling Federation (WWF). He is also one of the highest grossing box office stars of all the time.
Johnson was a promising college football player and he also played in semi professional football leagues. He began his successful wrestling career in 1996 and was known as “The Rock”.
His first appearance in a television show was on “That '70s Show” (1999). Johnson’s major movie hits are “Fast & Furious 6” (2013), “Hercules” (2014) and “Jumanji: The Next Level” (2019). He also starred in the television series “Ballers” (2015) which ran a total of five seasons and was the most watched comedies for six years. Though a very versatile actor, he is most cast in action adventure movies.
Dwayne Johnson married two times, and has three children.
Octavia Lenora Spencer, an American actress and producer was born on May 25, 1972. She is one of the most successful black actresses today, and has been nominated for three academy awards.
Spencer began her acting career in “A Time to kill” (1996), an American crime drama series. Spencer struggled for many years before finally achieving her much deserved success.
Finally, in 2011, she received her career breakthrough in the movie “The Help”, in which she played a maid. For her role, she won several awards including an Academy Award for best supporting actress.
After the huge success of “The Help” (2011), she had starring roles in several hits including the “Divergent Series” (2015–16), "Hidden Figures" *(2016), "The Shape of Water" (2017, “Instant Family” (2018) and “Ma” (2019), as well as many other memorable performances.
5) Chris Pratt
Christopher Michael Pratt, actor, was born on June 21, 1979. Pratt was raised in a middle class family, and worked in supermarket to help support himself and his family. At one time, Pratt was homeless in Hawaii and slept in a tent on a beach.
In the 2000's, Rae Dawn Chong, an actress and director discovered Pratt when he was working in a restaurant in Maui at 19. She cast him in a horror film “Cursed Part 3” (2000). After filming, he performed in many small roles on both TV and the movies, where is ability to give diverse performances shown through.
His break out role was on television in the long running series "Parks and Recreation" (2009 - 2015). An upcoming, and likely hit for Chris Pratt is “The Tomorrow War”, a military Sci-fi war movie.
Pratt has won a multitude of awards including the CinemaCon Award in 2014 for breakthrough performer. He was also ranked number 2 in People’s Magazine in the list of sexiest man Alive. Pratt married twice, and has one child with his former wife, Anna Faris.
6) Tom Hanks
Thomas Jeffrey Hanks is also one of the finest and most beloved actors and filmmakers of our time. He was born on July 9, 1956. He began his career in comedies on both television (Bosom Buddies - 1980 to 1982), and the big screen. Tom Hanks is considered a cultural icon of the Hollywood industry.
His first movie role was in the film, "Mazes and Monsters (1982). His break out role was the the 1984 movie, "Splash". His successful movie career was cemented with the starring role in the movie, "Big" (1988). He has starred in and directed a multitude of classic movie hits including “A League of Their Own” (1992), "Forrest Gump" (1994), “Captain Phillips” (2013), “Sully” (2016) and “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” (2019), and far too many others to list here.
Hanks has won a great number of, much deserved, honors and awards throughout his career including the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2016. Hanks married twice, his current wife is Rita Wilson who he married in 1988. Together, they have four children including Colin Hanks who is also a successful actor and producer.
Woodrow Tracy Harrelson is an actor and playwright, born on July 23, 1961. Harrelson struggled early in life because of his father’s life sentence in prison. His mother greatly struggled to support the family.
Harrelson began his successful career in the NBC sitcom “Cheers” (1985-1993) after replacing Coach who died during the series. It was a break out role for Woody, and launched his film career. This lead to a role in the film “Wildcats” (1986), a football comedy. With continuous success in films and dramas, Harrelson starred in “Indecent Proposal” (1993), which earned huge on Box Office and worldwide.
His some of the major hits of his career include “Indecent Proposal” (1993), “The Messenger” (2009), “Now You See Me 2” (2016), "The Zombieland" franchise (2009 to 2019) and “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri” (2017).
Harrelson ihas been a long time and strong advocate for legalizing marijuana and also remained part of many forums including UNICEF. He married twice, and has three children.
